Timely Warning Notification of a Criminal Incident October 19, 2008 Aggravated Assault
This message to members of the University community is being sent in the interest of public safety and in compliance with federal law requiring timely warning notification of crimes committed on or near campus.
On Sunday, October 19, 2008, at approximately 1:30 a.m., a 24 year old male student was assaulted by an individual with a folding knife near the intersection of NE 50th and 17th Ave. NE, Seattle. Just prior to the assault the victim and the suspect, who was unknown to the victim, had been arguing.
The victim sustained a stab wound to his leg and was treated at UW Medical Center.
The suspect fled the area prior to the arrival of police.
The suspect is described as a Caucasian male with blonde hair, wearing a t-shirt and jeans.
This incident is being investigated by the Seattle Police Department under incident number 08-0392773. If you have any additional information about this crime, please call the Seattle Police at (206) 625-5011.
Prevention tips for incidents such as this:
* Avoid confrontations whenever possible.
* Remove yourself from potentially dangerous situations as soon as possible.
* Avoid consuming alcohol as it will reduce your ability to perceive and react to dangerous situations
* Call 911 when you believe a confrontation is escalating.
