On September 30th, 2009 at approximately 2:27 a.m., North Precinct Seattle Police officers responded to a call of a group of males assaulting another male in the 5200 block of 15th Avenue, N.E. Upon their arrival, SPD Officers contacted two victims and two witnesses who reported being accosted by a group of 10 males. One of the male suspects asked the victims for pizza and when refused became agitated. The victims attempted to run away but were chased and then assaulted by the primary suspect. The victims then called 911 at which time the suspects fled the area on foot through the alley. SPD conducted an area search but were unable to locate the suspects. The victims sustained minor injuries, but declined medical aid.

This case is being investigated by the Seattle Police Department under case number 2009-345132. Anyone having information regarding this incident is asked to call the Seattle Police Department at 206-625-5011.

On September 29th, 2009 at approximately 1:25 a.m., North Precinct Seattle Police officers responded to a call of a strong armed robbery in the 2000 block of N.E. 45th Street. A female victim, not affiliated with the University, was walking when two male suspects in a dark sedan pulled up and demanded the victim's property. They took items and headed northbound in their vehicle. SPD conducted an area search but found nothing.

This case is being investigated by the Seattle Police Department under case number 2009-343864. Anyone having information regarding this incident is asked to call the Seattle Police Department at 206-625-5011.

Also on September 29, at 2:40 a.m., a male victim, not affiliated with the University, was approached by three male suspects in the 4200 block of University Way, N.E. The suspects displayed a knife and demanded the victim's property. They took items and fled northbound on University Way, N.E. in a dark colored SUV. SPD conducted an area search and found nothing.

This message to members of the University community is being sent in the interest of public safety and in compliance with federal law requiring timely warning notification of crimes committed on or near campus.

On 9/28/09 at 12:00 a.m., Seattle Police responded to a call of an armed robbery at 18th Ave. N.E. and N.E. 45th St. The victim, a UW student, stated that an unknown assailant approached him from behind, put a knife to his throat, and demanded his wallet. The assailant took the victim's wallet and ran off.

The victim followed the suspect briefly and gave the suspect's description to 911. Officers arrived, conducted a search of the area and located the suspect in the 4500 block of University Way, N.E. The suspect ran from the officers but after a brief chase was captured in the alley east of the 4500 block of University Way, N.E. The victim positively identified the suspect at the arrest location and his wallet was recovered where the suspect had dropped it.

This case is being investigated by Seattle Police Department, under case number 2009 - 342564.

On September 23, 2009, at 7:10 p.m., a UW student returned home to his apartment in the 4000 block of 12th Ave. N.E. and interrupted a burglary in progress. The victim attempted to stop the suspect and was punched in the face. The suspect fled on foot with property belonging to the victim. The suspect was described as a male in his 20's with a muscular build, wearing a purple t-shirt, black jeans, and was carrying a backpack. The victim did not sustain serious injury.

This case is being investigated by the Seattle Police Department under case number 2009-337129.

On September 24th, at approximately 3:00 a.m., North Precinct officers responded to a call of a burglary at a fraternity in the 1600 block of N.E. 47th Street. Residents at that location confronted the suspect inside the house, and the suspect fled. He was described as a male, thin, wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt. It did not appear that the suspect took any items. Seattle Police conducted a K9 search, but the suspect was not located. Seattle Police are investigating this incident and are working with both the University of Washington and the UWPD.

On September 5, 2009, at 7:30 p.m., a female UW student was on her way to the UW vs. LSU football game walking alone in parking area E-9 on the north side of Husky Stadium. She was pushed to the ground by two unknown males in their 20's, who then took the victim's football ticket from her rear pocket. Both suspects fled toward the North Plaza entrance to Husky Stadium and entered the facility. Responding Officers were unable to locate the suspects among the crowd. Fortunately, the victim did not sustain serious injury.

Anyone having information regarding this incident is asked to call UWPD at 206-685-8973, and refer to case number 09-001757.

[UW Safety] Timely Warning Notification of Criminal Incident - Seattle Campus

Timely Warning Notification of a Criminal Incident

This message to members of the University community is being sent in the interest of public safety and in compliance with federal law requiring timely warning notification of crimes committed on or near campus.

On 9/02/09 at 12:40 p.m., UW Police responded to what was reported as an altercation involving two males outside Architecture Hall on Stevens Way. Upon arrival, officers determined the incident was actually an attempted strong-armed robbery of a UW student, with the suspect fleeing in the direction of University Way via N.E. 40th St. UW Police Officers located and detained a suspect at Campus Parkway and University Way N.E., who was then positively identified by the victim. The suspect was arrested and transported to jail. The victim was not injured during this incident.

This incident was assigned by the University Police Department under case number 09-001726.
