Timely Warning Notification of a Criminal Incident

This message to members of the University community is being sent in the interest of public safety and in compliance with federal law requiring timely warning notification of crimes committed on or near campus.

On 9/02/09 at 12:40 p.m., UW Police responded to what was reported as an altercation involving two males outside Architecture Hall on Stevens Way. Upon arrival, officers determined the incident was actually an attempted strong-armed robbery of a UW student, with the suspect fleeing in the direction of University Way via N.E. 40th St. UW Police Officers located and detained a suspect at Campus Parkway and University Way N.E., who was then positively identified by the victim. The suspect was arrested and transported to jail. The victim was not injured during this incident.

This incident was assigned by the University Police Department under case number 09-001726.

* Call 911 to report suspicious activity or persons to the police.
