This message to members of the University community is being sent in the interest of public safety and in compliance with federal law requiring notification of crimes committed on or near campus.

On September 30th, 2009 at approximately 2:27 a.m., North Precinct Seattle Police officers responded to a call of a group of males assaulting another male in the 5200 block of 15th Avenue, N.E. Upon their arrival, SPD Officers contacted two victims and two witnesses who reported being accosted by a group of 10 males. One of the male suspects asked the victims for pizza and when refused became agitated. The victims attempted to run away but were chased and then assaulted by the primary suspect. The victims then called 911 at which time the suspects fled the area on foot through the alley. SPD conducted an area search but were unable to locate the suspects. The victims sustained minor injuries, but declined medical aid.

This case is being investigated by the Seattle Police Department under case number 2009-345132. Anyone having information regarding this incident is asked to call the Seattle Police Department at 206-625-5011.

Prevention tips for incidents such as this:

- Call 911 to report suspicious activity or persons to the police.
- Avoid confrontations with suspects if possible.
- Be aware of your environment and alert for possible danger.
- Remove yourself from potentially dangerous situations as soon as possible.
- Walk in groups whenever possible.
