Timely Warning Notification of a Criminal Incident

Sexual Assault - Seattle Campus
This message to members of the University community is being sent in the interest of public safety and in compliance with federal law requiring timely warning notification of crimes committed on or near campus.
On Saturday, February 7, 2009, at approximately 1:00 a.m., a female attending a fraternity party on 17th Ave. N.E. was the victim of a sexual assault. The victim is not a UW student and was attending the party with a friend. The victim was exiting a restroom and was met by two unknown males who took her to a location where she reported both suspects sexually assaulted her. The victim was transported to the hospital by her friend. One of the suspects is described as 5'8" tall with blonde hair. There is no description of the second suspect.
This incident is being investigated by the Seattle Police Department under incident number 09-004365. If you have any additional information about this crime, please call the Seattle Police at 206-625-5011.
Prevention tips for incidents such as this:
- Avoid confrontations whenever possible.
- Remove yourself from potentially dangerous situations as soon as possible.
- Avoid consuming alcohol as it will reduce your ability to perceive and react to dangerous situations
- Call 911 when you believe a confrontation is escalating.
