Subject: [UW Safety] Warning Notification of Suspicious Incidents (December 17, 2007)
To:
Suspicious Person - Solicitation of Sex
This message to members of the University community is being sent in the interest of public safety and in compliance with federal law requiring timely warning notification of crimes committed on or near campus.
This message is being sent to all Faculty, Staff, and Students with the approval of the UW Police Department.
Date of Incidents - December 17, 2007
The University of Washington Police Department is investigating a report of a suspicious male who approached a female student in the Montlake Parking Lot (parking area E-1). The suspicious male yelled at the female student and she initially pretended to ignore him. He then yelled again and asked if she knew the time. She stopped and gave him the time. He then asked her if she would have sex with him. The female student immediately left the parking lot and walked to the University Village where she called the police.
Approximately three and one-half hours later, a second female student called the University Police to report a suspicious male who was following her as she walked behind the University of Washington Club and told her she was good looking. She walked quickly to the Engineering Library and phoned the police. The description she gave closely matched that of the suspicious male in the previous incident.
Approximately eighteen minutes later, while the police were still looking for the suspicious male near the Engineering Library another call was placed via 911 from the N-22 parking lot north of the HUB. A male matching the same description was once again described as acting strangely and this time told the caller that she was very beautiful.
The suspicious person in these incidents is described as a white male, approximately 20 to 30 years old, with buzz cut or shaved head, 5'9", pock marked face, teeth with spaces between them, wearing a blue satin team sport jacket and blue jeans, carrying a black or grey back pack and a water bottle.
No crime has been committed at this time. However, his approach is disturbing enough that three separate women chose to call police.
Anyone seeing the person described in these incidents is asked to call 911 immediately. If you have any additional information about these incidents or you were contacted by this person or know his identity, please call the University of Washington Police at (206) 685-UWPD (8973) reference incident #07-002652.
