Subject: [UW Safety] Update on the assault that occurred last week N. of 45th Street

The Seattle Police Department and UW Police now have a somewhat sketchy description of the individual who assaulted the female UW student at N.E. 47th and 18th N.E. last Tuesday morning, January 8, 2008 around 6:45 a.m. The student was parking her car when assaulted. Her attacker was unknown to her and fled following the assault.
A possible suspect has been described as a white male, 20-30 years old. He has short, possibly brown hair and is 5'8" to 6'0" tall and average build. He appeared clean shaven. He may have been wearing a dark baggy jacket, dark baggy jeans, and a light colored hat or head cover.
Crime Stoppers of Puget Sound will pay up to $1,000 to witnesses who can provide information leading to an arrest and conviction in this case. If you have any additional information about this crime and this possible suspect, please call the Seattle Police Homicide Unit at (206) 684-5550.
In order to decrease the chances of becoming a victim of crime, you should:
* Carefully consider the time and location of where you choose to be.
* Walk with a group.
* Be aware of your environment and alert for possible danger.
* Remove yourself from potentially dangerous situations as soon as
possible.
* Always call 911 immediately to report suspicious activity or persons to the police.
